Read these frequently asked questions, terms of use and disclaimer before you post your ad in the SCI-NL Swap N Shop.
Do I need to be a member of SCI-NL to post an ad?
No. However you can support SCI-NL and services like the Swap and Shop by donating today.
Do I have to register to use the Swap N Shop?
Yes to use SCI-NL’s Swap N Shop you must be a registered user.
How do I register?
Go to the SCI-NL Swap N Shop and click on “Register” in the upper right corner, and follow the directions. Your login details will be emailed to you for confirmation so make sure to use a valid email address. Once registration is complete, you will be able to submit your ads.

How do I attach a photo with my post?
Scroll down to the bottom of your ad listing and look for the “Add Image” area. To insert an image, simply click the “Choose File” button to browse for the image you wish to upload an insert into your listing. Optionally, fill in the “Alt Text” field to give your image a description. You are able to attach 3 images for each ad listing, each no more than 500kb in size.
How do I manage my account?
Once you have registered, an account area will be available to you in the system. To access your account area, click the “My Dashboard” link in the upper right corner of your browser window. Your dashboard will allow you to edit your profile information, such as email address and password, as well as manage any ads you have on the system.
How do I edit my ad?
Log in using your username and password and click the “Dashboard” link in the upper right corner of your browser window. To edit your ad, click the pencil icon in the options area. You will then be able to edit your ad details and attach or remove any photos.
How do I remove my ad?
Log in using your username and password and click the “Dashboard” link in the upper right corner of your browser window. To remove your ad, click the pause icon in the options area. This will remove your ad from the public listings but leave it in your account just in case it needs to be relisted later. If you wish to completely delete the ad from your account, please contact us at info@sci-nl.ca.
How do I contact another user about their post?
Click the “Contact” tab to the right of the ad listing.
How long will my ad stay on the Swap N Shop website?
All ads are removed from the Swap N Shop in 90 days. If your item has not been sold you may create a new listing or contact us at info@sci-nl.ca if you wish to relist the same ad.
Is is safe to post my ad on the SCI-NL Swap N Shop?
Anyone can read and post an ad on the SCI-NL Swap N Shop. The internet is loaded with scammers. If in doubt follow your gut feelings. If something is too good to be true, it probably is. Use caution when conducting business on the internet. Do your homework and get phone numbers, talk to the seller (or buyer). Be advised the NL Paraplegic Association is in no way responsible or liable for transactions that have gone bad.
What are the posting guidelines?
- No profanity (that includes using $@#* between letters) vulgarity or rude behaviour. We expect that people using the Swap N Shop will be polite and conduct business in a respectful manner. People who will not abide by these guidelines will be suspended from posting either temporarily or permanently. *Posts may be edited for content or removed for any reason.
- Use the Swap N Shop for items that are generally disability related such as: equipment, adapted vehicles, accessible homes for sale or rent. If you are unsure about whether to post an ad contact the moderator of Swap N Shop at info@sci-nl.ca.
- Use your real name and provide accurate contact information such as phone and/or email.
- No commercial links.
- No links to other classified ad websites.

What are the Terms of Use of the Swap N Shop?
Spinal Cord Injury Newfoundland (SCI-NL) it’s affiliates, officers, agents and other partners and employees are not liable or responsible for any content provided by it’s users, external links or other third parties to the SCI-NL Swap N Shop.
The contributions of third parties do not necessarily represent the view or opinions of SCI-NL. Users can be held liable for any illegal or prohibited content they provide to the site, including among other things, infringing, defamatory or offensive materials.
If you discover this kind of material on the site, please notify us at info@sci-nl.ca and we will investigate your claim and take appropriate action.
What happens if I forget my password?
Click on “Lost your password?” on the Login screen. Enter in your username or the email address you used to set up your account and a new password will be emailed to you.
What is the Disclaimer?
Be advised that Spinal Cord Injury Newfoundland is not responsible for the transactions that occur through the Swap N Shop. Fraudulent claims have been reported from some e-mail adresses using the Swap N Shop. Consumers are advised to beware of potential fraudulent activity and to take precautionary measures to ensure all transactions are legitimate.
Why was my ad removed?
The Swap N Shop is moderated and subject to interpretaton of the posting gudelines. If the moderator feels that your ad is inflammatory, irrelevant, or otherwise inappropriate, it is subject to removal.
